  • A public mental health practitioner, Mr Martin Vandendyck is currently the Technical Lead for the Mental Health and Substance use program of the World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific.
  • Mr Vandendyck holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Liege in Belgium with a specialization in development and disability. He started his career in a community service promoting inclusion of children with disabilities in primary schools. He also completed a Mater’s degree in public health from the University of Liege in Belgium, as well as the International Master in Mental Health Policy and Service at the NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal.
  • Prior to this assignment at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, he worked in several WHO Country Offices developing strategies for integrating mental health services into health systems, and strengthening capacity of health workers on clinical management of mental, neurological and substance abuse conditions.
  • Mr Vandendyck also served as a clinical psychologist for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Belgium, working on the development and coordination of mental health programs and other related projects in several low- and middle-income countries.

  • Vishwajit L Nimgaonkar, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and Human Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh, where he directs the Program in Genetics and Psychoses.  He also serves as the Associate Chief of Staff / Vice President of the Behavioral Health Service Line at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Health System. 
  • His research is focused on the causation and treatment of severe psychiatric illnesses, including genetic and environmental factors.  His group also models the functional effects of identified risk factors using iPSC-based technologies.  With funds from the NIH, Dr. Nimgaonkar oversees research projects and research training in the United States and India.  Dr. Nimgaonkar’ training includes Medicine (MBBS) from the University of Madras; Ph.D. (DPhil) from the University of Oxford, UK; psychiatric residency training at the Maudsley Hospital, London, UK, and post-doctoral training at the University of London, UK.  
  • He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology.
  • Dr. Nimgaonkar has received a Rhodes scholarship, the Sir Dennis Hill Prize from the Institute of Psychiatry, London, the NIMH Independent Scientist Award, the Harry Levin Award for Clinical Excellence from Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and an Outstanding Mentorship Award from the Department of Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  He has published over 260 peer reviewed publications.
